The rise of virtual stylists has revolutionized the fashion industry, offering individuals the opportunity to access personalized styling services and expert advice from the convenience of their own homes. With the increasing reliance on digital platforms, virtual stylists have become a popular choice for those seeking fashion guidance and support. However, as technology continues to advance, the question arises: can virtual stylists truly replace the personal touch and human contact that traditional in-person styling experiences provide?

LFITALY: VIRTUAL STYLING CONTINUES TO GROW IN POPULARITY, DO YOU BELIEVE IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO SURPASS THE PERSONAL TOUCH OF TRADITIONAL STYLING METHODS?

LR: Reflecting on the landscape in 2019, pre-COVID, I would have dismissed the idea of virtual styling, especially for clients seeking a genuine transformation and those eager to embrace responsible consumer practices. However, navigating the pandemic and adapting to remote assistance for clients worldwide has shifted my perspective. Embracing the virtual realm allows for broader outreach and the ability to assist a more extensive clientele and being of assistance when it is not possible otherwise. So there is great value in that. Yet, despite the practicality of virtual styling, I still hold the belief that the in-person experience retains an extra edge. There’s an irreplaceable value in personal interaction, shared moments, and the emotions woven into a physical presence that no virtual platform can fully replicate.

While technology opens new avenues, the essence of shared experiences remains unparalleled.

LFI: HOW DO YOU ENVISION THE FUTURE OF FASHION?

LR: In the future of fashion, technological advancements and emerging trends, particularly in eco-friendly textiles and plant-based leathers, are poised to revolutionize the industry. The focus on sustainability aligns with increasing environmental responsibility. To address waste concerns, scaling up recycling is essential, requiring transparent practices through evolving legislation. Currently, some claims about the use of recycled materials may lack clarity, with only minimal percentages being integrated into products. Stricter regulations can enhance accountability and genuine commitment to eco-friendly practices. Looking ahead, the integration of AI shows great potential in optimizing production, enabling personalized and efficient manufacturing. This effort, in order to make a real impact, needs to go hand in hand with a shift in consumer behavior towards mindful and minimalist shopping, prioritizing quality over quantity. The mantra “less is more” has never been more relevant.

LFI: MOVING ON TO STYLE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE—WHAT WOULD YOU SAY DEFINES A STYLISH WOMAN?

LR: A really stylish woman can be defined by three distinct characteristics: attitude, mannerisms, and appropriateness.

ATTITUDE is essential as how you wear a piece is more important than the piece itself – it’s not about the label or the price tag. It’s about wearing something that complements your personality and expresses who you are.

MANNERISM is also key, as elegance comes from within and can be expressed through how you move, your posture, behavior, and kindness. Good manners are an essential component of a woman’s charm.

Lastly, APPROPRIATENESS — knowing what to wear for a ceremony, restaurant, or meeting is difficult for many, and finding someone impeccably dressed is not always easy. Ultimately, I’m not just referring to how dressed up or down someone is for a venue but to the whole package.
